Ingredients:
1 tablespoon baking powder
Dash of salt
1 cup butter or Crisco
3 cups sugar
4 cups plain flour
1 cup milk
6 eggs
2 tablespoons flavoring (can use vanilla, lemon, or almond)
Ingredients substitutions:
If you want a chocolate pound cake, add 1/2 cup of cocoa
Steps:
1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
2. Grease and flour tube pan very well (this makes a large mix).
3. Beat butter and Crisco until soft.
4. Add sugar
5. Add eggs one at a time while adding in flour.
6. Add baking powder and salt.
7. Add vanilla or other flavoring
8. Beat well until smooth and pour batter into greased tube pan.
9. Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
What makes this recipe special?
It was created by my children's grandfather, and it is just an awesome cake.
Additional notes:
You can make icing with powdered sugar, milk, flavoring, or if chocolate is desired, use the following:
1 stick margarine (melted)
4 tablespoons cocoa
6 tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 box of powdered sugar
Mix well and pour over cake.
